of the Acts of 1933, relating to the administration of relief
in Montgomery County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 240 of Article 16 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Montgomery
County", sub-title "County Commissioners and Treasurer",
sub-heading "Social Welfare Work", as said section was
amended by Chapter 444 of the Acts of 1933, be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:
240. The County Commissioners may from time to time
whenever they deem it advisable (1) in administering any
such function as provided for in Section 239 avail themselves
of the services of any existing private social welfare agency
in the county; and (2) consolidate and place the administra-
tion of any and/or all such functions in any public social
welfare agency established by the County Commissioners or
by the State of Maryland or in any existing private social
welfare agency in Montgomery County to be designated by said
County Commissioners; provided, that any social welfare
agency so availed of, established, or designated shall have a
qualified professional staff and adequate standards of admin-
tration.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1939.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 1
of Chapter 478 of the Acts of 1931, relating to the Super-
visor of County Aid for Montgomery County, to make the
appointment of the Supervisor of County Aid for Montgom-
ery County discretionary with the County Commissioners.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 1 of Chapter 478 of the Acts of 1931 be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read
as follows:
1. The County Commissioners of Montgomery County may,
in their discretion, appoint a suitable person to be known as
