The Mayor and Common Council of Westminster is hereby
authorized and empowered to pass such ordinances as may be
necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 154.
(House Bill 268)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 131
of Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "Montgomery County", sub-title "Chevy Chase
View", authorizing the payment of special assessment taxes
in ten annual installments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 131 of Article 16 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery County", sub-title
"Chevy Chase View", be and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

131. Said Citizens' Committee of said Chevy Chase View,
is empowered to grade, pave, macadamize, or otherwise im-
prove any existing dedicated street, road or lane, or any county
road, street or lane, which has been, or which may be acquired
and opened for public use, but which is ungraded, unpaved or
unimproved, and to lay sidewalks and curbs thereon provided,
that said Citizens' Committee, subject to the approval of the
Board of County Commissioners and after due publication
thereof, shall have power to assess the cost of said grading,
paving, macadamizing, or improving against the respective
property abutting on said street, road, lane or sidewalk, in
proportion to the frontage of said abutting property on the
same.

Any tax so assessed as above provided in this section shall
be payable to the County Treasurer in not more than ten
annual installments, as nearly equal as may be, the first in-
stallment thereof to become due and payable the first day of
July next succeeding the making of such special assessment
as herein elsewhere provided and to be collected as county
taxes in said county are collected and shall be subject to in-
terest from the first day of September until paid at the rate
of six per cent, per annum. Each annual installment shall be-
