SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1st, 1939.

CHAPTER 113.
(Senate Bill 101)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
110, 111 and 112 of Article 22 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wash-
ington County, " sub-title "Court Stenographer, " increas-
ing the compensation of the Court Stenographer of
Washington County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 110, 111, 112 of Article 22 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Washington County, " sub-title "Court Stenogra-
pher, " be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments to read as follows:
110. The Judges of the Fourth Judicial Circuit of
Maryland, are hereby authorized and directed to appoint
an Official Court Stenographer for the Circuit Court of
Washington County, who shall be a sworn official of said
Court. Said Official Court Stenographer shall receive a
salary of $1, 500. 00 per annum.
111. The County Commissioners of Washington County
shall levy and pay to the said Court Stenographer so
appointed for the Circuit Court for Washington County
the said sum of $1, 500. 00 in monthly instalments on or
before the 10th day of each month as long as said Court
Stenographer is performing the official duties herein pro-
vided for, or until said County Commissioners are notified
by the Judges of said Circuit, or any of them, to the
contrary.
112. The said Court Stenographer so appointed shall be
skilled in the art and practice of stenography and type-
writing and shall hold said position until removed by the
Judges of said Circuit or a majority of them, and in case
of a vacancy in said office, said Judges are authorized
and directed to appoint a suitable person in conformity
with this Act to fill such vacancy. It shall be the duty of
