of said Department may select; and all such employees so
eligible shall furnish such other evidence affecting their ap-
plication for retirement as the superintendent of State Police
may require.

If a member of the State Police becomes physically incapable
of performing his duties and such disability is the result of an
accident or injury occurring in the course of duty or is the
result of sickness, accident or disease contracted in the course
of duty and if such member has been in the Department for
ten years or more, then he shall be entitled to the same re-
tirement pension as provided for in Section 31.

If any member of the Department of Maryland State Police
dies either before or after retirement from the service on a
pension, leaving a widow or child or children under the age of
sixteen (16) years, the widow shall receive a pension from said
Fund in an amount not to exceed sixty dollars ($60. 00) per
month until her death or re-marriage, and each child under
the age of sixteen (16) years shall receive a pension not to
exceed ten dollars ($10. 00) per month until death or reaching
the age of sixteen (16) years. No widow, child or children
resulting from any marriage contracted subsequent to retire-
ment of the husband or father from the Department shall re-
ceive any relief under the provisions of this sub-title.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 697.
(House Bill 647)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 21
of Article 88B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1935
Supplement), title "State Police", eliminating Calvert
County from the list of counties to which Sections 21, 22
and 24 of said Article shall not apply.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 21 of Article 88B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1935 Supplement), title "State Police", be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

21. It shall be the duty of police employees of the Depart-
ment to prevent and detect crime, to apprehend criminals,
to enforce the criminal laws and motor vehicle laws of the
