224AE. Except as modified by the provisions of Sections
224AA to 224AE, inclusive, the general laws regulating
general, primary, special and other elections shall apply to all
elections in any county in which voting machines may be used.
The provisions of Sections 224AA to 224AE, inclusive, shall
apply only to Carroll and Allegany Counties.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all sections of
Article 33 of the Code, and all laws or portions of laws incon-
sistent with or in conflict with the provisions of this Act, are
hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency or conflict.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

CHAPTER 688.
(House Bill 834)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 231
of Article 2 of the Code of Public Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "County
Commissioners", providing for requisitions upon the County
Commissioners for dockets, record books, registration books,
stationery and other similar articles; authorizing the adver-
tising for sealed proposals and awarding of contracts au-
thorizing contracts for printing notices and newspaper
advertisements, and all printed blank forms, and other
printed matter required by law for the various county offices,
and prescribing terms and conditions of awarding such con-
tracts.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 231 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Anne Arundel County", sub-
title "County Commissioners", be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
231. The Clerk of the Court, the Sheriff, the officers of
registration, the Supervisors, the County Treasurer, the State's
Attorney, or whichever of them, and whatever officers or
departments of said County are entitled to demand of the
County Commissioners of said County payment for the same,
shall annually on or before the first day of September, 1939,
