HERBERT R. O'CONOR, GOVERNOR. 1347

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor and
Common Council shall meet in some convenient place in said
town from time to time as occasion may require, or upon the
call of the Mayor or a majority of Councilmen; not less, how-
ever, than once in every month.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That the said Mayor and
Common Council shall appoint a Clerk and a Treasurer, or a
combined Clerk-Treasurer, in which latter case the treasurer
shall also act as clerk for said body, and in addition to his or
her duties as treasurer shall keep the minutes of their pro-
ceedings in a well-bound book which shall be open to inspec-
tion of the public, and said clerk and/or Treasurer shall per-
form such other duties as the Mayor and Common Council
may assign to him or her.

SEC. 9. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor and
Common Council shall appoint one or more town policemen,
and/or special officers for said town, who are hereby declared
to have and are vested, with as full powers as a constable in
criminal and misdemeanor cases, within the said town limits,
and who shall perform such duties as may be required of
them by said Mayor and Common Council, and who shall pre-
serve the peace and good order of said town. They may make
arrests for the violation of the Public General and Public
Local Laws as well as the ordinances of the town, and shall
have authority to retain custody outside of the town over
persons arrested while in the course of taking them to a Justice
of the Peace and to a jail.

SEC. 10. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor and
Common Council shall establish a reasonable salary or com-
pensation for the Treasurer. All the appointees of the Mayor
and Common Council shall receive such fees or compensation
as they may provide and shall hold their offices or positions at
the pleasure of said Mayor and Common Council.

SEC. 11. And be it further enacted, That before any elec-
tive or appointive officer of the said town of Fairmount Heights
shall enter upon his or her duties he or she shall take the
constitutional oath of office before some officer authorized to
administer oaths in said Prince George's County; and he or
she shall file a certificate of such oath with the clerk of said
Mayor and Common Council which shall become part of the
records of the said town.

SEC. 12. And be it further enacted, That the Treasurer shall
give bond to the Mayor and Common Council in such sum and
