1182 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 593

Montgomery County, but said Board of Supervisors of Elec-
tions shall employ no other assistants or clerks of any kind
whatsoever, except with the approval of the Board of County
Commissioners of Montgomery County and at such compensa-
tion as may be fixed by the said Board of County Commission-
ers. The Board of Supervisors of Elections of Wicomico
County shall receive an annual salary of three hundred dollars
($300. 00), payable on the order of the County Commissioners
of Wicomico County in equal quarterly installments, and they
shall not receive any other compensation, emolument, pay or
recompense of any kind whatsoever for their services, includ-
ing services rendered under Section 202 of this Article, pro-
vided, however, that in the event of special elections or special
services rendered the Board of County Commissioners of
Wicomico County shall allow such additional compensation as
may by said County Commissioners be deemed commensurate
with such special services rendered.

7. The Board of Supervisors of Elections of the several
counties may have clerks, with the consent of the County Com-
missioners, for their respective counties, at such compensation
as the said County Commissioners may fix. The Supervisors
of Elections of the City of Baltimore shall, until January 1,
1939, have a chief clerk at a salary of thirty-five hundred dol-
lars ($3, 500), one clerk at a salary of three thousand dollars
($3, 000), one clerk at a salary of twenty-seven hundred and
fifty dollars ($2, 750), two clerks at a salary of twenty-two
hundred dollars ($2, 200) each per annum, two clerks at a sal-
ary of nineteen hundred dollars ($1, 900) each per annum,
two clerks at a salary of eighteen hundred dollars ($1, 800)
each per annum, two clerks at a salary of seventeen hundred
dollars ($1, 700) each per annum, three clerks at a salary of
sixteen hundred dollars ($1, 600) each per annum, one car-
penter at a salary of two thousand dollars ($2, 000) per annum.
Beginning with January 1, 1939, the Supervisors of Elections
of the City of Baltimore shall have a chief clerk at a salary of
thirty-five hundred dollars ($3, 500) per annum, an assistant
chief clerk at a salary of thirty-five hundred dollars ($3, 500)
per annum, two registrars at a salary of three thousand dollars
($3, 000) per annum, two clerks at a salary of twenty-five hun-
dred dollars ($2, 500) each per annum, one clerk at a salary of
twenty-two hundred dollars ($2, 200) per annum, two clerks
at a salary of nineteen hundred dollars ($1, 900) each per an-
num, three clerks at a salary of eighteen hundred dollars
($1, 800) each per annum, four clerks at a salary of seventeen
hundred dollars ($1, 700) each per annum, a custodian of vot-
ing machines at a salary of two thousand dollars ($2, 000) per
annum, three deputy custodians of voting machines at a salary
