New motor vehicles owned by and in the possession of regis-
tered manufacturers, dealers or distributors shall be exempt
from the registration by manufacturers' number prescribed by
Section 179.

Registered dealers may permit the use of their dealer's tags,
for a period not exceeding ten days from the date of delivery,
upon vehicles owned by them, but loaned to prospective pur-
chasers, for the purpose of demonstrating said vehicles irre-
spective of the business in which the purchaser may be engaged
or the use to which said vehicle shall be put during the demon-
stration period.

Registered dealers may use their dealers' tags upon vehicles
owned by them, for the purpose of towing other motor vehicles
and for all other purposes incidental to the dealer's business
including the use of dealer's tags on vehicles owned by the
dealer and loaned to a customer for a period of not more than
ten days as a substitute vehicle while the customer's vehicle is
being repaired by such dealer.

Except when used by a purchaser from a dealer as above
provided, dealer's tags shall not be used on any other motor
vehicle while engaged in business of any kind or character ex-
cept the automobile business of the manufacturer, dealer or
distributor, nor in the business of transportation for hire or
livery business; nor shall the same be used after such manu-
facturer, dealer or distributor shall have been notified by the
Commissioner of Motor Vehicles that such tags are forfeited
because of his failure to comply with the provisions of this
section.

Any manufacturer, dealer or distributor who shall fail or
refuse to comply with the provisions of this section or
shall cause or permit dealers' tags to be used in violation
of any of the provisions of this sub-title, and any person using
such tags in violation of the provisions of this sub-title shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall
be fined not less than five dollars ($5. 00) nor more than fifty
dollars ($50. 00), and upon conviction of any manufacturer,
dealer or distributor, all tags issued to such manufacturer,
dealer or distributor under Class D, Section 182 of this Article,
shall be subject to revocation or suspension by the Commis-
sioner of Motor Vehicles, and the said Commissioner after due
hearing may refuse and decline thereafter to issue other such
tags to such manufacturer, dealer or distributor.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.
