Fact", sub-title "Admission to the Bar", eliminating Carroll
County from the exceptions of said section and to make
provisions of said section applicable to said Carroll County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 1 of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1935 Supplement), title "Attorneys At Law and
Attorneys In Fact", sub-title "Admission to the Bar", be and
the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
1. No person shall practice the profession or perform the
services of an attorney at law within this State without being
admitted to the bar as hereinafter directed; and any person
who shall give legal advice, represent any person in the trial
of any case at law or in equity or prepare any written instru-
ment affecting the title to real estate, for pay or reward, shall
be deemed an attorney at law for purposes of this Article;
provided, however, that this section shall not apply to
Garrett County, so far as it relates to the preparation of writ-
ten instruments affecting the title to real estate for pay or
reward.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 4
of Article 32A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title
"Department of Law", as the same was amended by Chapter
374 of the Regular Session of the General Assembly of Mary-
land of 1937.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 4 of Article 32A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, title "Department of Law", as the same was
amended by Chapter 374 of the Regular Session of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1937, be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
4. The Attorney General shall receive a salary of eight
thousand dollars ($8, 000) per annum. He is authorized to
