the sergeant in charge of the member's sub-station, and of the
Chief of Police, and that the members of the Montgomery
County police shall receive in addition to the amounts herein
specified, no other fees or compensation of any kind whatsoever.
Provided that the said County Commissioners are hereby
authorized to increase the compensation of the members of
said force designated as "patrolmen" up to but not exceeding
the sum of sixteen hundred and eighty dollars ($1, 680. 00)
per annum, said increase to be granted as follows: Upon the
completion of each two years of service the compensation of
said patrolmen shall be increased sixty dollars ($60. 00) per
annum until such time as the total annual compensation of a
patrolman so compensated shall not exceed $1, 680. 00 per an-
num, and provided further, that no additional compensation
herein authorized shall be granted except upon the recommen-
dation of the Chief of Police of Montgomery County and as
herein authorized.

Section 4. And be it further enacted. That the members of
the Montgomery County police appointed, as aforesaid, be and
they are hereby required to report to the Chief of Police im-
mediately after their appointment and qualification, and shall
be at all times under the supervision and orders of the said
Chief of Police. Each of the members as aforesaid shall at
all times while on duty, unless otherwise ordered by the Chief
of Police, wear such uniforms and equipment as may be pre-
scribed by the County Commissioners. That the Chief of
Police shall at all times be under the supervision and order
of the County Commissioners. At any time with or without
cause or notice, any and all members of the Montgomery
County police force may be removed from office by the County
Commissioners.

Section 5. And be it further enacted, That the County Com-
missioners are hereby authorized, directed and empowered to
purchase not exceeding thirty-one motor vehicles, as the Coun-
ty Commissioners in their discretion determine, for the use of
the members of the county police; provided that the said Coun-
ty Commissioners are authorized and empowered to substitute
motor vehicles in lieu of motorcycles, provided that the total
number of vehicles purchased and maintained by the use of
said county police shall in no event exceed thirty-one in number.

Section 6. And be it further enacted, That all uniforms,
equipment, automobiles or motorcycles purchased under this
