ject at all times to the direction and control of the Attorney
General.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and being
passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all
the members elected to each of the two Houses of the General
Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 290.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
294 of Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent County, " sub-title
"Orphans' Court, " providing for the amount per diem and
mileage to be received by the Judges of the Orphans' Court
for Kent County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 294 of Article 15 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent Coun-
ty, " sub-title "Orphans' Court, " be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, so as to read as
follows:
294. The Judges of the Orphans' Court of Kent County
shall each receive the sum of seven dollars ($7. 00) for every
day's attendance upon the sessions of said Court, to be paid
by the County Commissioners of said Kent County in quar-
terly payments, and in addition thereto there shall be paid
to the said Judges the sum of five cents (5c. ) per mile for
each mile traveled by them in going to and returning from
the said sessions of the Orphans' Court, to be paid by the said
County Commissioners of Kent County upon the certificates
of the Register of Wills for said county; provided, that no
Judge of said Court shall receive in any one year as compensa-
tion for his services and mileage as allowed thereunder a sum
exceeding five hundred dollars ($500. 00).
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1931.
