reasonable amounts as said Commissioners may determine;
and the treasurer shall also be entitled to receive from the
State of Maryland the commission allowed for the collection
of the State taxes; and no extra compensation whatever shall
be allowed him or be claimed by him, except such costs as
are hereinbefore specified, for assessing new property: and he
shall not be allowed to receive directly or indirectly any other
commission or fee from any taxpayer, nor any levy fee; nor
shall he be allowed or claim any fee, compensation or remun-
eration for posting notices, or for auctioneers7 fees, or for re-
porting sale to the court, or for any appearance fees or counsel
fees in said court, in connection with any such report of sales,
or otherwise, in the discharge of the duties of said office, nor
shall he retain or demand out of the proceeds of any sale made
by him as treasurer any money hereinbefore provided, and the
fees allowed, by law to the clerk of the Circuit Court in such
cases; and if the treasurer or any clerk, agent or deputy of
said treasurer shall ask, demand or receive any greater costs
of fees than allowed by the provisions of this and the preced-
ing section, the persons so offending shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall pay a
fine of not less than $100 nor more than $500 for each and
every offense, one-half thereof to go to the informer, and the
other half thereof to go to the school fund of said county.
The said salary and fees so allowed shall not be retained by
the treasurer out of the collections made, but shall be paid
him by the clerk by check, as other claims are paid and from
time to time as such salaries and fees are earned, and in no
other manner; the commission on uncollected taxes turned over
to his successor in office shall not be allowed him, but shall be
allowed to the assessors who collect the same.

502.     All purchases of real estate heretofore made by the
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County from the
respective treasurers of said, county, at tax sales for State and
county taxes in default, be and the same are hereby ratified,
confirmed and legalized, so as to vest in said County Commis-
sioners the marketable title of the properties so purchased,
subject only to the ratification of such sales by the Circuit
Court for Anne Arundel County.

503.      The said Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are
hereby authorized, in case of any future sales of property at
tax sales for default in the payment of taxes, to purchase such
