said bonds; (b) the remainder of the proceeds from the sale of
said bonds shall be used for the purpose of paying any and all
certificates of indebtedness issued by the Board of County
Commissioners of Montgomery County under the provisions
of Chapter No. 318, of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland, Session of 1927, or for the purpose of refunding
to the General Treasury of Montgomery County any monies
expended therefrom for the purpose of purchasing land or im-
provements thereon in connection with the erection of a new
court house and jail building in Montgomery County; (c) any
surplus remaining from the proceeds of the sale of said bonds
after the payment of the sums hereinabove authorized, shall
be expended for furniture and equipment in furnishing the
court house and jail building in Montgomery County.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That for the purpose of
paying the interest on said bonds, and for redeeming the said
bonds as they mature, the said Board of County Commission-
ers of Montgomery County shall for the year 1931, and an-
nually thereafter, until all of said bonds issued under the
authority of this Act shall mature and be redeemed, levy a
tax upon the assessable property in said county sufficient to
pay the annual interest on said bonds outstanding, and to
redeem said bonds as they mature and become due, said taxes
to be collected as other taxes levied in said county are collected.
SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and being
passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all
of the members elected to each of the two Houses of the Gen-
eral Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its-
passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
47 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title*
"Public Education, " sub-title "County Board of Educa-
tion, " so as to increase the amount of land which may be
