bunal or court, whether of original, appellate, inferior or
superior jurisdiction, and shall not be disclosed directly or
indirectly outside the membership of the Probation Depart-
ment in the discharge of his official duties to anyone other than
to a member or members of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore
City, unless and until otherwise ordered by the Supreme
Bench of Baltimore City or by any member thereof.
351G. The Supreme Bench of Baltimore City may appoint
as many probation workers, clerical assistants and other em-
ployees to carry out the provisions of this Act as it may deem
proper; and from time to time, and without assigning any
reason therefor, may revoke the appointment of any one or
more of such probation workers, clerical assistants or other
employees so assigned to work in the Probation Department,
as well as any and all of such persons heretofore so appointed
or so assigned. All probation workers, clerical assistants and
other employees so appointed or assigned, before the time of
their appointment must have resided in the State of Maryland,
and in the City of Baltimore, for at least one year before the
time of such appointment. Such persons may be selected by
examination, held by, or under the authority or direction or
consent of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City. The
Supreme Bench may appoint one of said probation workers
as Chief of such department.
351H. The Supreme Bench of Baltimore City shall fix the
salaries of each probation worker and of each of such clerical
assistants and other employees; the moneys necessary therefor,
as well as all moneys necessary to carry out the provisions of
this sub-title, shall be paid by the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore and shall be included in the next annual budget of
the Board of Estimates in the Ordinance of Estimates, and
shall be paid in the same manner as the salaries of other ap-
pointees of said Supreme Bench are paid. Moneys for said
salaries and expenses shall be paid on proper statements or
vouchers certified to or approved by the Supreme Bench or
by any member thereof, and without the necessity of obtaining
the consent of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore
thereto; provided, however, that the total of such yearly salaries
and expenses of the said Probation Department shall not ex-
ceed the sum of forty thousand dollars, unless the Mayor and
City Council of Baltimore shall assent to any sum in excess of
said sum of forty thousand dollars annually.
