A Joint Resolution requesting the State Roads Commission
and such other person or persons as the Governor may ap-
point to investigate the practicability of a bridge across the
Chesapeake Bay.
WHEREAS, A Joint Sub-Committee of the Senate Finance
Committee and House Ways and Means Committee was ap-
pointed to study the practicability of a bridge or tunnel across
the Chesapeake Bay; and
WHEREAS, The said Joint Sub-Committee has concluded its
investigation, which report has been adopted by the Finance
Committee of the Senate and the Ways and Means Committee
of the House, as follows:

the Ways and Means Committee of the House of Delegates:.
Your Joint Sub-Committee appointed to study the report of
the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Commission and to make recom-
mendations thereon, begs leave to report as follows:
At the outset we desire to assert our belief in the State-wide
desirability of connecting the Eastern and Western Shores of
of Maryland by a bridge or a tunnel. Such a structure as is
proposed would inevitably bring about a closer community of
interest between the people of the two shores.
In addition, we think there are sound State-wide business
reasons for such a structure. It is a mistake to assume that
it would be used only by those people living in relatively close
proximity to it. It is our opinion that traffic from all over
