the Commissioners, including all the amounts paid thereunder,
at the end of nine months one-fourth shall be paid in addition,
at the end of twelve months the whole levy, less insolvents
allowed, shall be settled with the Commissioners. After he has
paid to the Commissioners any charge for taxes included in
the levy he shall be entitled to enforce payment of the same
in all respects as if the Commissioners had not been paid.
Besides the mode in the charter provided for enforcing the
payment of taxes, after he has paid any claim on account of
taxes, he may bring an action at law for money paid for the
party liable for the taxes, if he so elects, and he may maintain
such action as long as the account or claim is not barred by limi-
tation without regard to the expiration of his official term or
the extension of his time.

5 5A. And the said Commissioners are further authorized
and empowered, in their discretion, at any time, by order to
be set forth in their minutes, to increase the salary of any
officer or employee from the amount now fixed "By the charter
of Cambridge to such an amount as may be reasonable and
necessary to procure the services that are required to execute
the functions of the municipal government of the city; this to
apply to only such officers or employees as are elected or ap-
pointed by the Commissioners of Cambridge or the Police
^Commissioners of Cambridge.

55B. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Board of Town Commissioners of Cambridge shall
each and every year pay unto the Police Magistrate of Cam-
bridge, Dorchester County, Maryland, the sum of three hun-
dred dollars ($300. 00) per year, v^hich sum of three hundred
dollars ($300. 00) shall be independent of the salary now re-
ceived from the Commissioners of Dorchester County, which
salary shall be paid by the Town Commissioners of Cambridge
on the last of each and every month, in equal monthly install-
ments, and the said* Town Commissioners of Cambridge are
hereby directed each and every year to levy an amount suffi-
cient to pay said sum.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
^effect on and from the 1st day of June, 1931.
