be and they are hereby repealed to the extent of such incon-
sistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and is necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public safety and
being passed on a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 155.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 1 and 2 of Article 49A of the Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland (1935 Supplement), title
"Investments, " authorizing investments in securities
issued or insured under the provisions of an Act of
Congress approved June 27, 1934, and known as the
"National Housing Act, " and declaring the same to be
an emergency law necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety.

CHAPTER 156.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commis-
sioners of Montgomery County to borrow, upon the faith
and credit of said County, a sum not exceeding one hun-
dred and eighty thousand dollars ($180, 000. 00) in order
to provide funds for meeting an. emergency which has
developed from lack of adequate school facilities in said
County, by providing funds for the construction of a
junior high school at Kensington in said County and for
the improvement of the grounds and streets surround-
ing the Chevy Chase School, and authorizing the County
Commissioners of Montgomery County to evidence said
borrowing by the issuance and sale of coupon bonds, and
providing for the payment of said coupon bonds and the
