The Speaker pro tem. administered the oath of office to the fol-
lowing members of the House of Delegates: Mr. Charles Schimunek
and Mary S. Joffe.
The Speaker pro tem. next called for nominations for the office of
Speaker of the House of Delegates for the Special Session of 1945.
Whereupon, Mr. James W. Gill, of Montgomery County, nomi-
nated Mr. John S. White, of Prince George's County, which nomina-
tion was seconded by Mr. Jerome Robinson, of the Fourth Legisla-
tive District of Baltimore City.
There being no further nominations for Speaker for the Special
Session of 1945, the Honorable John S. White, of Prince George's
County, was elected Speaker for the Special Session of 1945 by yeas
and nays as follows:

White, elected as Speaker of the House for the Special Session of
1945.
The Speaker pro tem. appointed Messrs. Luber and Moore to escort
the newly elected Speaker to the rostrum.
The Speaker pro tem. administered the oath of office to the Honor-
able John S. White as Speaker of the Special Session of 1945.
The newly elected Speaker then addressed the House requesting
speedy adoption of the emergency measures to be introduced.
