Extraordinary Session of 1945
MARYLAND, Sct.:
At an Extraordinary Session of the General Assembly o£
Maryland, begun and held in the City of Annapolis,
on the Fifth day of November, 1945, and ending on
the Fifth day of November, 1945, the Honorable
Herbert R. O'Conor being Governor of the State,
the following laws were enacted, to wit:
CHAPTER 1.
(Senate Bill 1)
AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 6 of Article 4 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland and Baltimore
City Charter (1938 Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-
title "General Powers' sub-heading "Taxes", as said section
and Charter was amended by Chapter 548 of the Laws of
Maryland, 1945, authorizing the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore to have and exercise within the limits of Balti-
more City the power to tax to the same extent as the State
has or could exercise said power within the limits of said
City, and to provide the procedure for the exercise of said
power.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added to
Section 6 of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edition), title
"Baltimore City", sub-title "General Powers", sub-heading
"Taxes", as said section was amended by Chapter 548 of the
Laws of Maryland, 1945., said new sub-section to be known as
Sub-section 30A, to follow immediately after Sub-section 30
of said section, and to read as follows:
(30A) To have and exercise within the limits of Baltimore
City the power to tax to the same extent as the State has or
could exercise said power within the limits of said City as
part of its general taxing power; and the said City is author-
ized to provide by ordinance for the imposition, assessment,
levy and collection of any tax or taxes authorized by this sub-
section, but the power herein granted shall expire and termi-
