SEC. 20. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public safety and health, and being
passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the
members elected to each of the two Houses of the General As-
sembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 290.
AN ACT to provide that certain sums levied by the County
Commissioners of Washington County for repairs to the
Broadway school house in Hagerstown, Maryland, may be
used either for said repairs or for the erection of a new
school house at the site of said Broadway school house and
that the Board of Education of Washington County shall
have the power to determine for which of said purposes said
sums shall be used.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the sum of Twenty-three Thousand Three
Hundred Ninety Dollars ($23, 390. 00) that was levied by the
County Commissioners of Washington County under the levy
of Nineteen Hundred Twenty-seven for repairs to the Broad-
way school house in Hagerstown, Maryland, and the sum of
Eight Thousand Two Hundred Eleven Dollars ($8, 211. 00)
that was levied by said County Commissioners under the levy
of Nineteen Hundred Twenty-eight for repairs to said Broad-
way school house may be used either for repairs to said Broad-
way school house or for the erection of a new school house at
the site of said Broadway school house, and that the Board of
Education of Washington County shall have the power to
determine for which of said purposes said sums shall be used.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1929.
