Station Houses, " said amendments adding to the number
of matrons at each station-house so that the hours of work
of each matron shall be eight hours per diem.

CHAPTER 260.
AN ACT to add three new sections to Article 48 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Inspections, "
to be under the sub-title "Fire Inspections"; said new sec-
tions to be known as Sections 144-146, inclusive, and to fol-
low immediately after Section. 143 of said Article, to author-
ize certain officers of fire departments throughout the State,
excluding Baltimore City, to make inspections, to require
persons to remove combustible material upon order of such
officers, to establish fines for the refusal to obey such officers,
or for hindering such inspections.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That three new sections be and they are hereby
added to Article 48 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924
Edition), title "Inspections, " said new sections to be under
sub-title "Fire Inspection, " to be known as Sections 144-146,
both inclusive, to follow immediately after Section 143 of said
Article, and to read as follows:
144. The members of the Board of Fire Commissioners
and the Chief of the Fire Department and his assistants, and
any, other officer or officers or member or members of the Fire
Department acting under the direction of such Board or Chief
of each of the cities of this State, and the Chief, Chief Engi-
neer Captain or Lieutenant of any Volunteer Fire Company,
Fire District or any other organization created for the purpose
of and engaged in the work of extinguishing fires in any town
or county of this State, whether incorporated or not, exclusive
of Baltimore City, are hereby severally authorized and empow-
ered to inspect all buildings, structures or other places in their
respective city, town or county, excepting, however, the inte-
rior of any private dwelling, where any combustible material,
including waste paper, rags, shavings, waste, leather, rubber,
crates, boxes, barrels, rubbish or other combustible material
that is or may become dangerous as a fire menace to such build-
ing or buildings, structures or other places, has been allowed to
