and the said bonds shall, if the Town Commissioners require,
be recorded in the office of the clerk of the Circuit Court for
Charles County.

SEC. 12. And be it further enacted, That the said Town
Commissioners shall allow their clerk and bailiff such compen-
sation as may be deemed reasonable by said Commissioners.

SEC. 13. And be it further enacted, That the Town Com-
missioners shall pass, and enact ordinances for the following
purposes: to open, widen, straighten, change and close high-
ways, roads, streets, lanes and alleys, within the corporate limits
of said town of Cobb Island, and may make, grade, and repair
the same; to dig or ditch for drainage purposes and make
subways for either drainage or sewage purposes; to remove
nuisances and obstructions from said town; to restrain all
disorders and disturbances within said town; to prevent and
prohibit all congregations of disorderly persons within the
limits of said town to apprehend and fine all tramps, vagabonds
and disorderly persons who shall enter or be found within the
limits of said town; to impose a tax on all geese, dogs, hogs and
other animals, if any, other 'than those hereinafter provided,
against running at large within the limits of said town, or to
prohibit such running at large under such penalties as they
may choose to impose upon the owner of such geese and other
animals; and they shall enforce and collect fines, penalties and
forfeitures for the violation of ordinances passed and enacted
by them, and may commit or cause to be committed all offenders
against such ordinances to the county jail until such fines, pen-
alties and forfeitures be paid, with costs, but not exceeding
thirty days.

SEC. 14. And be it further enacted, That for the purpose
of carrying out the provisions of the preceding sections and
for the preservation of the peace, health, cleanliness and good
order of the community, and for the protection of the lives and
property of the citizens of said town and to suppress, abate or
discontinue, or cause to be suppressed, abated or discontinued,
all nuisances and obstruction within the corporate limits of
said town, the Town Commissioners of Cobb Island may pass
such ordinances and by-laws from time to time as may be neces-
sary, which said ordinances and by-laws shall have the force of
law and may be amended or repealed by the said Town Com-
missioners at their pleasure.
