conditions as if same had been sold for taxes; and when, in
the opinion of The Commissioners of Trappe, it may be neces-
sary to open new streets or widen existing ones the question
shall be submitted to the taxable citizens of said town, and if
approved by a majority vote of said citizens the commissioners
are authorized to assess the damages and benefits and to exe-
cute the work.

CHAPTER 113.
AN ACT to add a new paragraph to Section 6 of Article 4 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "City
of Baltimore, "' sub-title "Charter, " to be numbered 20B and
to follow immediately after Paragraph 20A, headed "Pen-
sions, " of said Section 6 of Article 4 (said Section 6 being
a part of the Charter of Baltimore City), said Paragraph
20B as so enacted to authorize the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore, in connection with any system of pensions
and retirements authorized by said Paragraph 20 A, to make
provision by ordinance for the payment of benefits to bene-
ficiaries and dependents of its officers, agents, servants and
employees, in case of death (whether accidental or other-
wise and/or whether occurring in the actual performance
of duty or otherwise) of such officers, agents, servants and
employees; this Act further to authorize the Mayor and
City Council of Baltimore to make such provision for the
payment of death benefits retroactive to January 1st, 1926;
and this Act further to ratify, confirm and validate Ordi-
nance No. 553 of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore,
approved February 1st, 1926, and all acts done and awards
heretofore made by the Board of Trustees of the Employees
Retirement System of the City of Baltimore under the sup-
posed or assumed authority of said ordinance, to the same
extent as if the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore prior
to the passage of said ordinance had been expressly em-
powered by Act of the General Assembly of Maryland to
ordain an ordinance in the precise terms of said Ordinance
No. 553, approved February 1st, 1926.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new paragraph be, and the same is hereby
