charge or for the violation of any law of this State whether
such arrest is made without writ or is made under a warrant
issued by any Justice of the Peace, of the said Queen Anne's
County, it shall be the duty of such officer making such arrest
or in whose custody the person so arrested may be, to take the
person so arrested before the said Police Justice for commit-
ment (if not otherwise committed by any Justice of the Peace),
hearing1 or trial.

SEC. 8. Be it enacted, That said Police Justice shall be
paid a salary of fifteen hundred dollars a year, or the propor-
tionate part thereof, so long as he shall continue to act as such
police justice, said salary to be paid by the County Commis-
sioners of Queen Anne's County, in equal monthly instalments,
and shall be paid as full compensation for services rendered
under this Act; and no police justice shall charge any fee other
than provided by law or receive any gratuity for making any
commitment, granting any release, or the performance of any
duty required by law in criminal cases, or when acting as
coroner; but the said County Commissioners shall in no case
pay the aforesaid salary until the said Police Justice shall have
first filed his monthly reports as required by Section 9 of this
Act.

SEC. 9. Be it enacted. That said Police Justice shall at the:
first regular monthly meeting of the County Commissioners
held in each month make a report in writing verified under
oath, made before the clerk of said commissioners or before-
one of the commissioners, of all cases for violation of any of
the Public General Laws and Public Local Laws heard or tried
before him during the preceding month, and also a like report:
of all cases for violation of any ordinance of any incorporated!
town in said county of Queen Anne's heard or tried before him
during the preceding month, which said reports shall each state,
in each and every case, the name of the defendant, the offense
charged, the name of the person upon whose complaint the
warrant was issued, the number and names of witnesses sum-
moned, the name and official capacity of the officer serving the
warrant, and summons, the judgment rendered, the amount of
fine or penalty imposed, the amount of costs taxed, which shall
include all constables, or sheriff's fees, and the amount of fines
and costs collected by him, and all such fines and costs, in-
cluding constables and sheriffs fees for serving warrants and
summons, and all other process which in all cases shall be
