viction, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than One Hun-
dred ($100. 00) Dollars, nor more than One Thousand ($1, -
000. 00) Dollars, or be sentenced to confinement in the Alle-
gany County Jail for not more than six months, or both fine
and imprisonment in the discretion of the Court.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect upon the 1st day of June, 1929.

CHAPTER 549.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 30
of Article 91 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, Edition
of 1924, title "Surveyor and State Survey, " sub-title "Pub-
lic Roads"; providing for the amount of specified check to
accompany bids, and providing that the Commission may
purchase materials and supplies without advertising for
bids on the same, where the interests of the State are better
served by so doing.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland
, That Section 30 of Article 91 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland, Edition of 1924, title "Surveyor and State Sur-
vey, " sub-title "Public Roads, " be and the same is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, so as to read as
follows:

30. The said commission, when about to construct or im-
prove in any manner any highway, shall give the county com-
missioners of each county in which it lies a certified copy of
plans and specifications therefor, and a notice that said com-
mission is about to enter upon and proceed with the work in
question. Said commission shall thereupon advertise for at
least two weeks in one or more newspapers published in each
county in which the highway lies, and for three consecutive
issues in at least one daily newspaper published in Baltimore
City, for sealed proposals for the construction or other im-
provements of said highway, accurately describing the same
and stating the time and place for opening said proposals, and
reserving the right to reject any and all proposals; said pro-
