SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is an
emergency law and necessary for the immediate preservation
of the public health and safety, and having been passed by a
yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 466.
AN ACT to repeal Section 9 of Article 17 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Clerks of Courts, "
and to re-enact in lieu thereof eight new sections to be des-
ignated as Sections 9, 9A, 9B, 9C, 9D, 9E, 9F, 9G, au-
thorizing the filing of notices of liens for taxes payable to
the United States of America and certificates discharging
such liens with the Clerks of the Circuit Courts of the
Counties of Maryland and the Clerk of the Superior Court
of Baltimore City, and to make uniform the law relating
thereto.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 9 of Article 17 of the Code of Pub-
lic General Laws of Maryland, title "Clerks of Courts, " be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted to read as
follows:
9. Notices of liens for taxes payable to the United States
of America and Certificates discharging such liens shall be
filed in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of the
County, and the Clerk of the Superior Court of Baltimore
City, within which the property subject to such lien is situated.
And be it further enacted that seven new sections be added
to said Article to follow immediately after Section 9 thereof
and be designated as Sections 9A, 9B, 9C, 9D, 9E, 9F and
9G, to read as follows:
9A. When a notice of such tax lien is filed, the Clerk of
the Circuit Court of the County, and the Clerk of the Su-
perior Court of Baltimore City, shall forthwith enter the
same in an alphabetical Federal Tax Lien Index, showing
