sentence could properly be otherwise construed. All certificates
for stock which is restricted or limited as to its transferability or
voting powers, or which is preferred or limited as to its
dividends, or as to its share of the assets upon dissolution,
shall have a statement of such restriction, limitation or pref-
erence or a summary thereof plainly stated thereon. In case
any officer or officers who shall have signed any such certificate
or certificates shall cease to be such officer or officers of such
corporation, whether because of death, resignation or otherwise,
before such certificate or certificates shall have been delivered by
such corporation, such certificate or certificates may nevertheless
be adopted by such corporation and be issued and delivered as
though the person or persons who signed such certificate or cer-
tificates had not ceased to be such officer or officers of such
corporation.

CHAPTER 440.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 374
of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1927 Edition), title "Baltimore City, " sub-title "Criers,
Bailiffs, Watchmen and Stenographers, " prescribing the
salary to be paid to the bailiff assigned to the Jury Judge.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Section 374 of Article 4 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1927 Edition), title "Baltimore
City, " sub-title "Criers, Bailiffs, Watchmen and Stenog-
raphers, " be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments, to read as follows:

374. The City Register shall pay to the bailiffs respectively
of the Superior Court of Baltimore City, of the Court of
Common Pleas of Baltimore City, of the Baltimore City Court,
of the Circuit Court of Baltimore City, of the Circuit Court
No. 2 of Baltimore City and of the Criminal Court of Balti-
more City the sum of two thousand five hundred dollars per
annum and to the bailiff assigned to the Jury Judge three
thousand dollars per annum as and for their respective salaries
at the same time and in the same manner as is provided in the
preceding section for the payment of the salaries of the crier
