SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Sections 3 and 6 of Article 30 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Deaf, Dumb and Blind, "
be and they are hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1929.

Approved April 11, 1929.

CHAPTER 433.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the Board of Welfare to pen-
sion Mrs. Alfred H. Walker, widow of Alfred H. Walker, a
former guard at the Maryland Penitentiary.

WHEREAS, Alfred H. Walker was for thirty-three years a
faithful employee of the Maryland Penitentiary and died on
July 8, 1927, from wounds received July 5, 1927, in the discharge
of his duty, when attempting to prevent the escape of prisoners
from the Penitentiary; and

WHEREAS, the said Alfred H. Walker was eligible for retire-
ment but his widow is not provided for under existing law; and

WHEREAS, the payments under the Workmen's Compensation
Law will cease on December 8, 1932; therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That the Board of Welfare be and it is hereby authorized
and directed to pay to Mrs. Alfred H. Walker the sum of Sixty-
two Dollars and Fifty Cents ($62. 50) as a monthly pension
during her widowhood. The said pension shall be paid out of
any general or special fund or funds now or hereafter held for
any purpose whatsoever by the said Board of Welfare.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or parts of
Acts inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be and they
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect December 8, 1932.
