Garrett Counties shall receive a salary of $1, 800. 00 per annum
from the time of his or her appointment and qualification.
3. The County Commissioners of Washington County shall
levy and pay to the said Court Stenographer so appointed for
the Circuit Court for Washington County the said sum of
$1, 200. 00 in monthly instalments on or before the 10th
day of each month as long as said Court Stenographer is
performing the official duties herein provided for, or until said
County Commissioners are notified by the Judges of said Cir-
cuit, or any of them, to the contrary.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take
effect June 1, 1927.

CHAPTER 462.
AN ACT authorizing the County Commissioners of Washing-
ton County and the Mayor and Council of Hagerstown to
exempt factories, manufacturing industries, establishments,
plants and the like in Hagerstown and elsewhere in Wash-
ington County from County and municipal taxation for a
limited period of time for the purpose of encouragement of
the location of factories, manufacturing industries, establish-
ments, plants and the like in Hagerstown and elsewhere in
Washington County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land) That for the purpose of encouraging the location in and
the growth and development of factories, manufacturing indus-
tries, establishments, plants and the like in Hagerstown and
elsewhere in Washington County, the County Commissioners of
said County are hereby authorized and empowered to exempt
from County Taxation for a period of years not exceeding ten
from, the date of the passage of this Act, such factories, manu-
facturing industries, establishments, plants and the like, and the
land, machinery and tools therewith used, stock in trade and
products thereof as may be located in said Hagerstown or else-
where in said county since the 1st day of January 1926, or
may locate therein within a period of ten years from the 1st
day of January, 1926; said County Commissioners to deter-
mine what factories, manufacturing industries, establishments,
plants and the like are within the meaning and purpose of
