If any such collector shall fail to perform any duties as
directed in this section on or before May 1st, succeeding Jan-
uary 1st, succeeding the year of the levy thereof, said collector
shall be liable to prosecution and on conviction, shall be fined
not less than one hundred ($100. 00) dollars, or more than
five hundred ($500. 00) dollars, at the discretion of the Court.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the first day of June, 1927.

CHAPTER 434.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 214
as amended by Chapter 84 of the Acts of 1922, of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (Duckett
and Clagett's Edition), the same pertaining to the clerks
and salary of the Treasurer of said County, and providing
for additional clerk hire to be paid by the County Commis-
sioners.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 214 as amended by Chapter 84 of the
Acts of 1922, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (Duckett and Clagett's Edition) be, and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to
read as follows:

214. The Treasurer shall be entitled to appoint such clerk
or clerks as he may deem, necessary, and for whose official con-
duct he shall be responsible; said clerk or clerks to be paid by
the Treasurer out of the salary provided by law to be paid
him as compensation for the discharge of his official duties as
the collector of taxes, but in addition thereto the County Com-
missioners may in their discretion allow and pay over to said
Treasurer for additional clerk hire an amount not to exceed
in any one year the sum of two thousand dollars ($2, 000).

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That, all laws or parts
of laws, Acts or parts of Acts, whether Public General or Pub-
lic Local Laws, inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, be,
