SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 216 of Article 1 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Allegany County, " sub-title "Roads, " as
the same is enacted in Section 216, Chapter 787 of the Acts of
1914, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments so as to read as follows:
Section 216. Each road director shall be paid a salary of
Eight Hundred ($800. 00) Dollars per annum payable out of
the road fund in quarterly installments. Said directors shall
meet for the transaction of business at least twice a month.
Said directors shall be subject to removal by the Governor of
the State for neglect or refusal to comply with the duties of
their office. If any of the directors shall die, resign or be re-
moved his place shall be filled by appointment by the remain-
ing directors within thirty days after such vacancy shall have
occurred, and the one so appointed shall be of the same political
faith as his predecessor. Two directors shall always be of
different political faith from that of the other two.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the first day of June, 1927.

CHAPTER 418.
AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Allegany
County to issue bonds in the sum of One Hundred Thou-
sand Dollars ($100, 000. 00) and to sell the same, and to
provide for the laying of an assessment for the purpose of
paying the interest thereon and the principal thereof at
maturity; and to authorize the expenditure of the proceeds
of the sale of said bonds in or toward the erection by the
Mayor and City Council of Cumberland, Maryland, of a
hospital to be known as the Memorial Hospital of Cumber-
land, Maryland, to be located in or near the City of Cumber-
land.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Allegany Coun-
ty be and they are hereby authorized, directed and empowered
