356. The County Treasurer is hereby authorized and em-
powered to appoint three clerks; and the salary of the said
three clerks is not to exceed forty-five hundred ($4500) dol-
lars a year; said salaries to be paid monthly by the County
Commissioners of Anne Arundel County. Each clerk to be
bonded for ten thousand ($10, 000) dollars; the premiums to
be paid by the county.
358. The said Treasurer shall be entitled to receive as full
compensation for his services as collector of all county and
school taxes, an annual salary (payable monthly) of twenty-
five hundred ($2500) dollars for and during his term of office,
and until his successor shall have been duly elected and quali-
fied, and he shall also be entitled to receive from the state of
Maryland the commission allowed for the collection of the
State taxes; and no extra compensation whatever shall be al-
lowed him, or be claimed by him. All costs, compensations,
remuneration for posting notices, advertising, auctioneer fees,
reporting sale, and recording proceedings, shall be taxed as
part of the costs of sale. The said salary and fees so allowed
shall not be retained by the Treasurer out of the collections
made, but shall be paid him by the clerk of the County Com-
missioners, by check, as other claims are paid, and from time
to time as such salaries and fees are earned in no other man-
ner; the commissions on uncollected State taxes turned over
to his successor in office, shall not be allowed him, and shall
be allowed to the Treasurer who collected the same. If the
Treasurer, or any clerk, agent, or deputy of said Treasurer,
shall ask, demand, or receive any greater costs or fees than
allowed by the provisions of this and the preceding Sections,
the person so offending shall be. deemed guilty of a misde-
meanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall pay a fine of not
less than one hundred ($100) dollars, nor more than five
hundred ($500) dollars for each and every offense, and be
confined in the county jail until said fine and costs are paid.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts, or parts
of Acts, inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, are hereby
repealed.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the first day of June, nineteen hundred and twenty-
seven.
