missioners shall designate one of their number as " Chief" or
"Captain" and another as "Lieutenant". The said police-
men shall serve under such rules and regulations, and for such
compensation, as the Board of Street Commissioners shall di-
rect; such compensation, however, not to exceed the sum of
Two Hundred Dollars per month for said "Chief" or "Cap-
tain and "Lieutenant, " and for other members of the
police force not to exceed the sum of One Hundred and
Fifty Dollars per month, and said police or policemen
shall be subject to dismissal and discharge by said Board
of Street Commissioners; they shall have power to appoint spec-
ial policemen, if in their judgment the circumstances of the
city shall require it; provided, however, that the term
of appointment of such special policemen shall not exceed a
period of thirty days. The Fire Marshal and Assistant Fire
Marshals provided for by ordinance of the Mayor and Council
of Hagerstown, for the more effective discharge of their duties
and the protection of property, shall, during the time of fire,
have all the powers of a policeman in the city of Hagers-
town, and said Fire Marshal and Assistant Fire Marshals shall
take the oath prescribed for policemen of said city and shall
serve without pay.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1927.

CHAPTER 356.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with Amendments Sections 1
and 2 of Chapter 556 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of the year 1924, entitled "An Act to provide
for the licensing and regulating of cluck blinds in the waters
of Kent County from Fairlee Creek to the North end of
Hickory Thicket. "

CHAPTER 357.
AN ACT to add a new and additional section to Article 5 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924), title "Appeals and
Errors, " said new additional section to follow immediately
after Section 104 of said Article 5 and to be designated Sec-
tion 105, the same defining the procedure upon trial and
providing for an appeal to the Court of Appeals of Mary-
land in certain cases of contempt,
