that when any person convicted under the provisions of this
act shall be committed to the County Jail for non-payment of
fine or there committed under sentence of imprisonment under
this act, said person so convicted and imprisoned may be com-
pelled to work said fine out or serve said sentence or any part
thereof, by laboring on the County Roads and Highways of
Allegany County, Maryland, under the direction of either the
Board of County Road Directors for Allegany County or the
State Roads Commission of Maryland, at such compensation
as is now or hereafter paid for road labor, and said Board
of Road Directors or State Roads Commission shall pay
wages into the Court in which said person was convicted;
the sum of fifty cents per day of said wages shall be paid to
the County Commissioners for Allegany County for the use
of the keep of said person so convicted and the balance of
said daily wages shall be paid into the Court in which said
person was convicted for and to the use of the wife, minor
child or children, as the case may be nothing herein shall be
construed to prevent the Court from imposing a suspended
sentence or suspending the penalty or any part thereof, upon
such terms as the Court may think right and proper.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all acts or parts of
acts inconsistent with the provisions of this act are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the first day of June, 1927.

CHAPTER 335.

AN ACT to add two new Sections to Article 23 of Bagby's
Annotated Code of the Public General Laws of Maryland,
title "Corporations, " sub-title "Public Service Commission, "
empowering the Public Service Commission to suspend pro-
posed changes and authorize temporary changes in rates,
fares, charges, classifications, regulations or practices affect-
ing any rate, fare or charge; said new Sections to be known
as Sections 364-A and 364-B of said Article and to come in
immediately after Section 364.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That two new sections be and they are hereby
