(b) For equipment for the Fire Department and/or the
installation of a fire alarm system within the City of Cam-
bridge.

(c) For the acquiring of land and erecting of bulkheads
in connection with the opening of new streets in the City of
Cambridge.

(d) For the construction of sewers within the City of
Cambridge or for other permanent municipal improvements.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, that this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency law and necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public health and safety and be-
ing passed upon a Yea and Nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 38.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections 26
and 56 of Article 10 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Dorchester County, " sub-title "Cambridge, "
as said sections were respectively enacted by Chapters 290
and 99 of the Acts of 1920.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 26 and 56 of Article 10 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland, title "Dorchester County, " sub-
title "Cambridge, " as said sections were respectively enacted
by Chapters 290 and 99 of the Acts of 1920, be and the same
are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, to read
as follows:

26. To borrow money on negotiable paper, executed by the
Commissioners of Cambridge; provided the sum so borrowed
shall at no time exceed the sum of ten thousand ($10, 000) dol-
lars, unless otherwise expressly authorized by law.

56. Commissioners of Cambridge shall annually, before the
last day of June, levy such sums as they may deem sufficient to
