The said Mayor and Common Council shall provide by ordi-
nance for hearing appeals from any assessment that may be
made. It may, in its discretion, appoint the town treasurer
as one of the assessors, and may make such other provisions
as in its judgment may be necessary to carry the assessments
into full force and effect.

CHAPTER 167.
AN ACT to amend the Charter of the Town of Brentwood,
Prince George's County, Maryland, as enacted by Chapter
153 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1922, by add-
ing four new sections to be known as Section 18-A, 18-B,
18-C and 18-D, to follow immediately after Section 18 of
said Charter, authorizing the Mayor and Town Council
to borrow money on the credit of the town and issue certifi-
cates of indebtedness for the improvement of streets, alleys,
and the construction of sidewalks, gutters and roadbed, pro-
viding for such work to be done either by contract or under
the direct supervision of the Mayor and Town Council,
and providing for the submission of this Act to the qualified
voters of said town.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,, That four new sections be and they are hereby
added to the Charter of the Town of Brentwood, Prince
George's County, as said Charter was enacted by Chapter 153
of the Acts of 1922 of the General Assembly of Maryland, said
new sections to be known as Sections 18-A, 18-B, 18-C and
18-D, to follow immediately after Section 18 of said Charter,
and to read as follows:
18-A. The Mayor and Common Council shall cause to be
constructed in such cases as they may determine to be neces-
sary for the public benefit and for the interest of the abutting
property owners, sidewalks, curbs and gutters of concrete, and
roadbed of concrete or other permanent material, in any of
the streets of the Town of Brentwood, the sidewalks including
curbs to be of such width as may be determined by the Mayor
and Common Council and of a width sufficient for the needs
