SEC. 10. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

Approved April 9, 1924.

CHAPTER 318.

AN ACT to authorize the Police Commissioner of Baltimore
City to reinstate Kasper Becker as a member of the
police force of said city.

WHEREAS, Kasper Becker, of Baltimore City, entered the Po-
lice Department on April 11th, 1912, and resigned on March
16th, 1920, without any charges; and

WHEREAS, said resignation was due to accepting a position as
guard at the Citizen's National Bank.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Police Commissioner of Baltimore City be and
he is hereby authorized to reinstate Kasper Becker with the
same rank which he had at the time of his resignation on
March 16th, 1920, provided he submits himself to physical ex-
amination and passes the physical test required for admission
to the police force of said city.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.

Approved April 9. 1924.

CHAPTER 319.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 5 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Calvert County, " sub-title
"Circuit Court, '' said new section to be known as Section
42A and to follow immediately after Section 42 of said
Article, providing for speedy judgments in certain cases.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
5 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Cal-
vert County, " sub-title "Circuit Court, " said new section to
be known as Section 42A. to follow immediately after Section
42 of said Article, ' and to read as follows:

42A. In any action hereafter brought in the Circuit Court
of Calvert County arising ex contractu, if the plaintiff or his
agent shall file at the time of bringing his action an affidavit
