CHAPTER 310.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 19 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "St. Mary's County", sub-
title'' Fish", to be known as Section 51A and to follow im-
mediately after Section 51 of said Article, the said new sec-
tion prohibiting persons other than citizens of St. Mary's
County from catching and taking fish, except by hook and
line, and from catching and taking crabs in the waters of
the Chaptico Bay and other tributaries of the Wicomico river
within the limits of said County, and imposing penalties for
the violation thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
19 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "St.
Mary's County", sub-title "Fish", to be known as Section 51A,
to follow immediately after Section 51 of said Article, and to,
read as follows:

51A. It shall not be lawful for any person or persons,
to take or catch fish with a seine, purse net, trap net, pound
net, fike net, or any kind of a device for catching fish, in the
waters of the Chapitco Bay 2nd other tributaries of the Wi-
comico river within the limits of St. Mary's County within
five hundred yards of any established ducking blind located up-
on said Chaptico Bay or other tributary of the Wicomico
River in St. Mary's County during the open season for shoot-
ing ducks or other wild fowl. Any person violating the pro-
visions of this section, upon conviction thereof before a justice
of the peace, shall be subject to a fine of not less than twenty-
five dollars ($25. 00) nor more than fifty dollars ($50. 00) for
each offense; and any boat or vessel and the tackle thereof used
in violating this section may be seized and, in default of pay-
ment of the said fine, may be sold in the manner provided in
Sections 49 and 50 of this sub-title. From the proceeds of the
said sale, after deducting the amount of said fine and of the
costs of the prosecution and of the sale, the balance shall be
paid to the owner of said boat or vessel. In default of the said
fine, any person convicted of violating this section may be im-
prisoned in the county jail not more than thirty days.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.
