Chapter 329 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, passed at its session in the year 1908, amending tie
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Carroll County, " sub-title
"Justices of the Peace and Constables, " and to re-enact said
Section 59B with amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 59B of Chapter 77 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly, passed at its session in the year 1906, as
amended by Chapter 329 of the Acts of the General Assembly,
passed at its session in the year 1908, be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to read as
follows:
Section 59B. The said justice shall receive as compensation
for his services the sum of one thousand dollars per year,
or the proportionate part thereof, so long as he shall con-
tinue to act as such police justice in said district, said salary
to be paid to him by the County Commissioners of Carroll
County in equal monthly installments, and shall be in full
compensation for all services rendered the State of Maryland
required of him under this Act; and for services rendered
the city of Westminster in cases for violation of its ordi-
nances he shall be paid by it the usual fees prescribed by law,
and no justice of the peace so selected for police justice shall
be permitted to charge any fee or receive a gratuity for issuing
any warrants, taking any recognizances, making any commit-
ment, granting any release, or for the performance of any duty
required by law in criminal cases, except for issuing peace
warrants.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first Monday of June, 1924.

CHAPTER 192.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and City Council
of Laurel to borrow not over five thousand dollars and issue
its bonds therefor for the purpose of making repairs to or
extensions of the water and sewerage systems, or for street
improvements.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and City Council of Laurel be, and they
