tated from performing the duties of court stenographer from
ailments or accidents not resulting from any own misconduct,
shall be entitled to retirement with a salary of $1, 900 per
annum, payable as other official stenographers' salaries are now
paid, provided that such retirement shall be evidenced by a sat-
isfactory certificate approved by the Supreme Bench of Balti-
more City, directed to the Comptroller of the City of Balti-
more, advising him of the retirement of the stenographer, and
that said retirement is in accord with the provisions of this
section.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1924.

CHAPTER 156.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 43
of Article 4 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"City of Baltimore, " sub-title "City Collector, " as said sec-
tion was enacted by Chapter 350 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1918, referring to description of property in
tax sales.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 43 of Article 4 of the Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "City of Baltimore, ' sub-title "City Collector, "
as said Section was enacted by Chapter 350 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1918, be, and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted to read as follows:

43. Whenever it shall become necessary to sell any part or
parcel of ground in the City of Baltimore, improved or unim-
proved, for the payment of any taxes or assessment, of any
nature or kind whatever, levied or charged, the City Collector
shall first give notice by advertisement published once a week
for four successive weeks in two of the daily newspapers pub-
lished in said city, and in every issue of the Municipal Journal
during said four weeks, that he will sell the property at public
auction on the day in said advertisement mentioned. Said
notice shall state the name of the person or persons last assessed
for the taxes levied, the amount of taxes due on the same,
and a description giving street number of the improvement,
and giving with substantial accuracy the frontage and depth
of the lot, and whenever it is necessary to properly describe said
