CHAPTER 483.
AN ACT to add a sub-title entitled "Gaming, " and including
seven new sections, numbered Sections 243-A, 243-B, 243-C,
243-D, 243-E, 243-F and 243-G, to Article 16 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery
County, " the purpose of this Act being to define and pro-
hibit the offense of gaming; to prohibit the keeping or
maintaining of a gaming house; to define gambling para-
phernalia, declare the possession thereof unlawful, and to
provide for the forfeiture and disposition of such gambling
paraphernalia upon conviction of the owner or possessor
thereof; to declare all violators of this Act principals and
require them to testify against other principals; to provide
a procedure for the searching of premises alleged to be used
for purposes forbidden by this sub-title and the seizure of
gambling paraphernalia; to provide for the particularity
with which indictments of violators of this sub-title shall
be drawn; to provide penalties for the violation of this
Act; to repeal any parts of Sections 214 to 229, inclusive,
of Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws of Mary-
land, title "Crimes and Punishments, " sub-title "Gaming, "
inconsistent with this Act applicable to Montgomery County
to the extent of such inconsistency; to repeal all laws incon-
sistent with this Act to the extent of such inconsistency;
and to declare this Act an emergency Act effective from
the date of passage.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That seven additional sections be and the same are hereby
added to Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Montgomery County, " said seven additional
sections to be designated by the sub-title "Gaming, " and to
follow Section 243 of Article 16 of the Code of Public Laws
of Maryland, title "Montgomery County, " as the said Article
was amended and re-enacted by Chapter 790 of the Laws of
Maryland of 1912 and Acts amendatory thereof, said seven
additional sections to be known as Sections 243-A, 243-B,
243-C, 243-D, 243-E, 243-F and 243-G, and to read as fol-
lows:
SEC. 243-A. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons,
or any house, company, or association or body corporate, to
play at any game of chance for any sum of money or other
property of any value in Montgomery County, which said Act
