March Court 1731 Mathias Day and John Page Sworn to the Grand Jury against Richard Davis John Lee and William Flinn Sworn to Date against Peter Green Jun.r Thomas Chandler Sworn to the Grand Jury
upon John Page in the peace of God and of the Said Lord prop.ry then and there being with force and Arms an assault did make and him the Said John then and there did beat wound and evilly treat So that of his life it was much dispaired and other harms to him then and there did to the great damage of the Said John and against the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry his good rule and dignity &c.a Test John Page Mathias Day Obadiah Fisher On the Same bill was endorsed as foll. Billa Vera p Edw.d Worrell foreman And the afd Richard Davis in his proper person comes and Saith that he cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against him brought nor but that he is guilty of the assault above upon him imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged And thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at a Court held for Kent County at the Court House in the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in March being the twenty first day of Said Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty one That the afd Richard Davis pay the Sum of One hundred pounds of Tob.o to His Lord Ship &c.a as a fine for Committing the assault afd in form afd Confest and also it is Considered that the afd Richard pay the Sum of four hundred and twenty Seven pounds of Tobacco cost accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court Rachel Robinson Sworn to the Grand Jury against Robert Mullin
with a person to the Jurors afd unknown and did permit the Same unknown person then and there to have carnal knowledge of her body and to begitt then and there a bastard child on the body of her the Same Rachel to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil Example of all others in Such case offending contrary to the peace of the Said Lord prop.ry that now is his good rule and government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in Such made and provided Test John James On the back of Same bill was endorsed True bill p Edw.d Worrell foreman And the afd Rachel in her proper person comes and Saith that She cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against her brought nor but that She is guilty of the fornication above upon her Imposed as by the afd Indictment is alledged and thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is |
