    At A Court held for Kent County in the province of Maryland at the Court House in the
Town of Chester in Said County on the Seventeenth day of March in the Sixteenth year
of the Dominion of Charles Absolute Lord and prop.ry of the province afd and Avalon,
Lord Baron of Baltemore &c.a  The Same Court Continued the Eighteenth Nineteenth
twentieth the twentyfirst and twenty third days of afd Month Anno Dom 1729

 Kent County fs The Jurors for the Right Honourable the Lord proprietarie
that now is for Kent County afd upon their Oath do present
that Catharine Banks late of Shrewsbury parish in the County afd
Spinster the Servant of M.r George Wilson the tenth day of June
Anno Dom Seventeen hundred twenty and Nine at the parish afd in the County afd within
the Jurisdicon of this Court did Committ fornication with a Certain person to the Jurors
afd unknown and Did permitt the Same unknown person then and there to have
carnall knowledge of her body and to beget then and there a bastard Child on the
body of her the Same Catharine to the high Displeasure of Almighty God to the
evil Example of all others in Such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the Said
Lord prop.ry that now is his good Rule and Government and against the form of the
Act of Assembly in that Case made and provided

                                On the back of the Same bill was Endorst as foll viz.
Billa Vera p ine Tho.s Hynson foreman                        And the afd Catharine Banks
in her proper person Comes and Saith that She Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd
against her brought nor but that he is She is guilty of the premises above upon her
imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged And thereupon Submits to the
Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here Att the Court House in
the Town of Chester in Said County on the third tuesday in March being the Seventeenth
day of Said Month Anno Dom. One Thousand Seven hundred and thirty  That the s.d
Catharine Pay the Sume of thirty Shillings Current money for her offence of
Committing fornication as afd as also pay the Sume of two hundred and twenty
one pounds of Tobacco Cost Accrueing on the premises afd to the officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here that the Said Catharine prove the begetter And thereupon She
being Sworn Saith that a Certain John Haley was the person that begett her with
Child of the bastard afd Ordered by the Court that the afd fine be paid  Thereupon
M.r Geo Wilson of Said County promises that he will pay y.e afd fine to the Court
