diate preservation of the public health and safety, and being
passed upon yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all
the members elected to each of the two Houses of the Joint
Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its
passage.

CHAPTER 398.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3
of Chapter 657 of the Acts of 1914; the said amendments
relating to the dispensation and sale of intoxicating liquor
and drinks on prescriptions of regularly practicing physi-
cians holding permits from the United States Government,
by registered druggists or pharmacists in Charles County,
realting to the purchase, possession and dispensation of such
liquor or drinks by said druggists or pharmacists for medi-
cinal purposes under the license and authority of the United
States Government.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 3 of Chapter 657 of the Acts of 1914 be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, so
as to read as follows:
3. Nothing in this Act shall be held to prohibit the use of
wines in administering the sacraments of the various churches,
and excepting" druggists and pharmacists conducting- business
located upon any land in Charles County which may now or
hereafter be owned or controlled by the United States Govern-
ment, nothing in this Act shall apply, or be construed to
apply, to a registered druggist or pharmacist holding a permit
from the United States Government to dispense liquor or in-
toxicating drinks on prescriptions of regularly practicing phy-
sicians, for non-beverage purposes, and any and all duly regis-
tered druggists or pharmacists holding such permits, engaged
in such business, or who shall hereafter engage in the drug
business in Charles County, as aforesaid, shall be and they
are hereby authorized to buy, hold and dispense within said
corporate limits alcoholic liquors, for medicinal purposes, un-
der the license and authority of the United States Government.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1922.
