under the Public Local Laws of said county to determine the
public necessity for same and the location and after the report
of said examiners objections shall be heard as heretofore pro-
vided by law and after hearing objections thereto the County
Commissioners may take such action as they may deem proper
in the premises for the adoption or rejection of the examiners'
report.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the County Com-
missioners are hereby authorized and empowered to assess bene-
fits and damages to the abutting; property owners of any such
street, lane, road, alley, thoroughfare, used or traveled way or
permanently improve the same, the County Commissioners may
assiess the cost of such improvement against the owners of the
abutting property on each side of such roadway to be paid in
such installments as the County Commissioners may by resolu-

tion prescribe. That there shall be no valid or legal objection
to the County Commissioners taking over any such street, road,
alley, thoroughfare, used or traveled way because said roadway
does not connect any existing county highway.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect on the first day of June, A. D. 1922.

CHAPTER 393.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 181
of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Prince George's County," sub-title "County Commis-
sioners," as said section was amended by Chapter 510 of the
Acts of 1914, increasing the salary of the Transfer Clerk
and Auditor of Prince George's County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 181 of Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County," sub-
title "County Commissioners," as said section was amended
by Chapter 510 of the Acts of 1914, be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

181. They shall in the month of March, 1914, and every
two years thereafter appoint a Transfer Clerk and Auditor for
Prince George's County, who shall, subject to the control, di-
