ston District desire to create said special taxing district, there
shall be held an election on the second Tuesday in April, nine-
teen hundred and twenty-two, and Newton A. James, Ernest
M. Dew, John Ridley Shields, D. Hazen McLeod and John
Hiser are hereby appointed a committee for the purpose of
holding said election and declaring the result thereof. Not less
than seven days before said election they shall post in five
public places within the proposed taxing district limits, a
notice notifying the residents of said proposed district who are
qualified under this Act, that there will be held on said day at
a certain place and between certain hours, an election to de-
termine whether or not said residents desire to create said
special taxing district. The said committee shall provide ballot
boxes, booths and ballots which shall contain the words "For
the creation of the Edmonston Taxing District" on one line,
and "Against the creation of the Edmonston Taxing District"
on another line, with a square opposite each. Said election
shall be conducted as nearly as practicable as an election for
county officers in said county. Said committee shall appoint
three judges and two clerks, or they may themselves serve as
judges and appoint two clerks who shall conduct said election,
and upon the closing of said polls shall canvass the said vote
and publicly announce the result of said canvass. In the event
of a majority of said voters being in favor of the creation of
said Edmonston Taxing District, this special taxing district
shall become immediately in existence and in operation, and
thereupon the same committee shall, on the first Monday in
May, nineteen hundred and twenty-two, hold an election as
hereinbefore provided for the election of the said Edmonston
District Citizens Committee.
For the purpose of election to determine whether or not the
proposed Edmonston District hereinbefore mentioned shall be
considered the special taxing district for the residents of said
proposed Edmonston District, all residents of said proposed
Edmonston District, of the age of twenty-one years or up-
wards, who shall possess the qualifications of legally registered
voters of this State, and who shall have resided in said pro-
posed district for the space of six months next preceding- the
first Monday in May in each year in which they seek to vote
shall be eligible to vote at such election, and the committee
above named shall have power to name two of its members for
the purpose of registration of said voters, who shall have for
this purpose all the powers of registration officers for any elec-
tion in Prince George's County.
