such as school houses, fire engine houses, etc., for the registra-
tion and polling places. It shall be the duty of all public offi-
cials who have charge of such buildings to place them or any of
them at the disposal of said Boards of Supervisors of Elections
on the days of registration and elections when application is
made by the said Supervisors of Elections for any of the above
mentioned public buildings.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1922.

CHAPTER 358.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 416
of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Washington County," sub-title "Williamsport," as
amended by Chapter 17 of the Acts of 1904, authorizing an
increase in the tax rate of the town of Williamsport.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 416 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Washington County," sub-title "Williams-
port," as amended by Chapter 17 of the Acts of 1904, be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as
follows:

416. The said Burgess and Commissioners of Williams-
port shall annually lay an equal tax on all the real and per-
sonal property within the corporate limits of the town of
Williamsport, or that may have a situs there, by reason of the
residence of the owner thereof therein, not to exceed in amount
eighty cents on each one hundred dollars' worth of
taxable property, to be used for general municipal purposes
and for repairs and improvements on the streets and alleys of
said town as the Burgess and Commissioners may deem neces-
sary, and if at any time it shall be necessary to meet the ex-
penses of the condemnation of property for the use of the town
and of opening new streets and alleys, and putting the same
in good passable condition and of grading and macadamizing
and otherwise improving any of the streets and alleys of the
