SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 36A of Article 100 of the Annotated Code
of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Work—Hours of,
in Factories," sub-title "Employment of Minors," as said Sec-
tion 36A was re-enacted by Chapter 434 of the Acts of 1920,
and Section 47 of said Article, title and sub-title, as said Sec-
tion 47 was re-enacted by Chapter 840 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland of 1914, be and said Sections 36A
and 47 are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments
so as to read as follows:

Section 36A. The State Board of Labor and Statistics shall
have the discretion of issuing temporary permits to children
over 14 years of age, who are mentally retarded and are unable
to make further advancement at school, upon the written rec-
ommendation of the Superintendent of Education, of the City
of Baltimore or any county in the State, as the case may be;
and said State Board of Labor and Statistics may exercise
vocational supervision over such children until they reach the
age of 18 years.

Section 47. No fee shall be charged or collected from any
minor, or from his parents, guardian, legal custodian or next
friend for any services rendered by the Bureau of Labor and
Statistics, or by any school, or other officer issuing a permit,
or for any school certificate or physician's certificate issued
under the provisions of this Act; but in the counties the phy-
sician or physicians designated by the superintendent of schools
for each county shall be entitled to receive a fee of one dollar
for each physician's certificate issued by him under the pro-
visions of this Article, said sum to be paid by the Bureau of
Labor and Statistics on the warrant of the superintendent of
schools of said county.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from and after June 1, 1922.
