Section 24. Be it enacted, That if any person shall be sued or
prosecuted for anything done by him in pursuance of this sub-
title of this article, or anything therein contained, he may
plead the general issue, and give the special matter in evidence
for his defence, and if verdict be given for him, or the plaintiff
be non-suited or discontinue, he shall recover treble costs; and
if the plaintiff be unable to satisfy them, the attorney who
brought or prosecuted the suit shall pay them, unless the plain-
tiff shall give security approved by the court for such costs.
Section 25. Be it enacted, That the County Commissioners
or the clerk to said board shall not be entitled to charge or re-
ceive any additional compensation for their services in relation
to any duties performed under the provisions of this sub-title.
Section 26. Be it enacted, That any and all other Acts in-
consistent with the provisions of this Act be and the same are
hereby repealed.
Section 27. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect on
the 30th day of June, A. D. 1922.

CHAPTER 263.
AN ACT to authorize, empower and direct the County Com-
missioners of Montgomery County to appoint three (3) addi-
tional Constables for Montgomery County at large on the
first Tuesday of August, in the year nineteen hundred and
twenty-two, for a term of two years from the date of the
appointment, and to provide rules and regiilations governing
the duties of the said Constables and providing for their
compensation and the expenses of equipment, said Con-
stables to be known and designated as "Montgomery County
Police."
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Montgomery County
are hereby authorized and empowered to appoint three addi-
tional Constables for Montgomery County at large on the first
Tuesday of the month of August in the year 1922 for a term
of two years from the date of the appointment, and the County
Commissioners shall on the first Tuesday of August in every
second year thereafter appoint three additional Constables for
