CHAPTER 255.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners of
Montgomery County to borrow money for the use of the
County Board of Education for said county for providing
certain facilities for public school purposes in said county
and to issue bonds of said county for the money so borrowed
for the par value of sixty thousand dollars.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Board of Education of Montgomery
County be and they are hereby authorized to expend the sum
of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) for the purposes of erect-
ing and equipping a school building in the town of Takoma
Park in Montgomery County, Maryland, at a cost not to exceed
the sum of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) which said cost
shall include the sight for the location of said building and
they are further authorized, directed and empowered to make
such necessary repairs and additions to the school buildings
located at Sandy Spring, Brookeville, Dickerson, Gaithers-
burg and Poolesville, and to expend therefor the sum not to
exceed twenty-one thousand dollars ($21,000) and to pay off,
discharge and. satisfy a mortgage of five thousand dollars
($5,000) on the Sandy Spring school property and a mortgage
of eight thousand dollars ($8,000) on the Woodside school
property and to expend the further sum of one thousand dol-
lars ($1,000) for the general and necessary repairs required
for other school buildings in said county and to expend the fur-
ther sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000) on the Rural Stand-
ard Schools where application is made therefor by the trus-
tees of any rural school for the improvement of any of said
schools and where the patrons through the trustees shall de-
posit with the school trustees an amount equal to one-half of
the amount required for the improvement of said school build-
ings ; that is to say, whenever the patrons of any of the rural
schools are desirous of having additional improvements made
and are willing to pay for one-half of the cost of same through
the trustees, the Board of Education is authorized and directed
to pay for one-half of said improvements out of the aforesaid
appropriation of five thousand dollars for said purposes, pro-
vided, however, that the funds herein enumerated and for the
specific purposes herein outlined shall be expended as herein
set forth and shall not be diverted for any other purposes and
shall be expended by the Board of Education upon the recom-
mendation of the Superintendent of School Property who shall
